The Easiest Mod You’ll Ever Do
So, you’ve decided to delete the chrome on your Audi. Good choice. The "Black Optics" look transforms the car from a standard sedan into a sportier, more aggressive machine.
But maybe you are worried. You’ve seen horror stories of vinyl wrapping going wrong—bubbles, peeling edges, and hours spent fighting with a heat gun. Or you’ve heard that replacing the rear quarter window trim on an Audi A4 (B9) or Q5 requires cutting the glass out.
Relax. There is a better way.
Our Stainless Steel Chrome Delete Overlay is designed for zero-stress installation. It’s not a sticker; it’s a hard shell that snaps right over your existing trim. In this guide, we’ll show you how to blackout your Audi’s window trim in under 20 minutes right in your driveway.

What You Need (Tools List)
The best part about this mod? You don’t need a mechanic’s toolbox.
-
The Kit: Asign Stainless Steel Window Trim Overlay.
-
Cleaning Supplies: Microfiber towels and Isopropyl Alcohol (or the included adhesion promoter wipes).
-
Time: Approx. 15-20 minutes.
-
Temperature: Ideally above 60°F (15°C) for the best adhesive bond.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Follow these steps to ensure a permanent bond that withstands automatic car washes and highway speeds.
Step 1: The "Deep Clean" (Crucial!)
Before you peel anything, you must remove all dirt, wax, and oil from your factory chrome trim.
-
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the trim thoroughly.
-
Pro Tip: If you have ever used ceramic spray or wax on your car, use rubbing alcohol to strip it off the trim. The 3M adhesive needs a "naked" surface to stick properly.
Step 2: Dry Fit & Alignment
Don't peel the red backing yet!
-
Hold the overlay piece up to the corresponding window trim to check the fitment.
-
Our kits are laser-measured for specific chassis (like the B9 A4 or 8Y A3), so they should line up perfectly.
-
Note for A5 Owners: Ensure you aren't trying to fit a Sportback part on a Coupe!
Step 3: Peel the Backing
Once you are sure of the position, identify the Red 3M Adhesive Backing on the inside of the overlay.
-
Peel off a few inches of the red film from one end (or peel it all off for smaller pieces like the rear quarter window).
-
Why this tape matters: We use automotive-grade double-sided tape that covers the entire back surface, not just the edges. This ensures no water gets trapped behind the trim.
Step 4: Stick & Press (The "Rear Quarter" Hack)
This is where you save $1,500 compared to a dealership replacement.
-
Align the overlay with the factory trim.
-
For the Rear Quarter Window: Simply place the overlay directly on top of the existing molding. No glass removal is required.
-
Press firmly along the entire length of the strip. The pressure activates the adhesive bond.
Step 5: Repeat & Final Wipe Down
-
Repeat the process for the door sills and the upper window arches.
-
Once installed, use your soft cloth to give it one final firm press to ensure every inch is sealed. The result is a factory-like "Black Optics" finish that covers all oxidation.
Installation FAQ
Q: Can I wash my car immediately? A: We recommend waiting 48 hours before using a high-pressure car wash to allow the 3M adhesive to fully cure. Hand washing is fine.
Q: Will this cover my oxidized/cloudy trim? A: Yes! This is the #1 reason people buy our kit. Since it is a solid stainless steel shell (not a see-through film), it completely hides the "rainbow" oxidation common on Audi aluminum trim.
Q: Is it removable? A: Yes. If you are leasing your Audi, you can remove these overlays later using a heat gun and fishing line. It will not damage the factory trim underneath.
